Does anyone make a pre-fab 3" for an 83 regal? got a 455 in it, and want to go with 3 inch, but don't have the cash for a custom exaust at a shop, i'd like something i can put in myself.... ugh, all i can find are 2.5 or smaller, or for different cars.

Think i found one... torque tech... anyone deal with them? seems a little expencive though.... gues i'll probably end up buying mufflers and using the 10 foot section of 3 inch i already have, then turn downs for the time being.... less someone else knows of a place that sells what i need... don't mind if it exits behind the wheels or right in front of them... just gotta watch the budget....

Generally a 3" isn't warranted unless you're crossing over into 500+ HP territory. I think you'll see better performance out of a 2.5" given the 400/430 engine you're working on.

planning the 3 inch now, so i don't have to do it again.... i will eventually be going with aluminum heads, and a bigger cam, and taking the car off the road.... i know it's overkill now, but i don't want to do it twice.... i will also be shooting about a 175 shot after i get the rearend in.... so i think it makes sence to just do it 3 inch now.... not realy looking for advice on weather or not to do the 3 inch, just where to get it, best price/value out there.... don't wanna get ripped off but don't wanna pay more than i have to....

touqe tech is the one i run wit x pipe depending on what headers it may be slightly larger than 3 inch towards tha collectors. also they are not direct bolt in but good shop can make it fit due to tha fact all headers are not built tha same. you will be very pleased with it once on. Oh one more thing your right aint nothing cheap tha kit or the price

Hey i'm runnig poston headers, with 3.5 inch collectors... they're for a gs, i think a 67, they fit nice with i think two small dimples... (friend has same ones in a monte) so i'd need reducers, i see they sell them.... What mufflers are you running.... i plan on installing myself, cutting, and gonna learn to weld asap... if i can't, i have a friend who welds....

Oh and, i don't particularly enjoy reading people bashing other peoples cars on a thread meant to get information about something specific... so leave that outta my threads please, i'm just trying to learn as much as i can from the site... i'll read kill stories, or post on the bench if i just wanna chat.

Brendan thats not bashing i know Bobb personally so it race time and its time for trash talking. So that was a personal joke. As far as the colloetors tourqe tech collectors are built in to the exhaust. That why i was if you decide for a xpipe tha reducement is actually in tha xpipe it will go in as 3.5 to 3 in exiting tha unit comes as a clamp together but i have a real good exhaust shop here that took it and and made it into a all welded up piece so th only clamp are the ones holding tha unit to the car!!! Oh yeah im running tha dynomax bulllet mufflers

Brendan, have you looked at the Summit x-pipe kit? I don't know about fit and quality, but it might be an option to get you from the headers to the muffs with 3".

I actually have one of those on another car the problem with all the exhaust sytems is there only made one way. Sum headers may be tight tucked to the motor others may way toward the rail of the car the only true bolt on kits i have seen are usually are for GN and Monte carlos and they usually are designed for a specific header/downpipe there will have to be sum modifying for each specific car. with theses exhaust . I was jus thinking dont know if you actually wanted a x pipe you prob order jus tha tailpipes then mock up a exhaust off tha header then you could order possibly a offset or center inlet or outlet muffler depending on what you need may take a lil time but it is an idea

i used the tork tech 3 inch tail pipes and fabbed every thing else my self.
used a pair of summit 3 inch turbo mufflers. only spent $300. $200 was for
    the tail pipes.

I agree with this guy! I built my own exhaust from headers to tail pipe with all stainless. You will need a chop saw, mig welder and I used mandrel bends I bought at a swap meet.( $10 per 90deg) The most expensive part was the Borla mufflers and borla exhaust tips!!
It was some work mind you especially grinding down all the welds and polishing, but I won't donate to my local exhaust shops retirement fund every 3 years or so!! I even done the wifes 93 caprice when the original rotted out! . Do it stainless and do it once!!! ( the way it should be done from the factory!! )It was still way cheaper doing it myself with stainless than at the exhaust shop with paper thin steel !!!
