alright. guys running headers on your 350
how low are they to the ground? in the future i may drop the car about an inch. are 350 headers generally knuckle draggers?

also i have A/C. Will I have clearance problems?

    i have hooker super comps.

no problems with AC clearance. the passenger side actually goes in easier than the driver if you're installing them on a car that still has the motor in. bolts are a bit harder to get to, though, becuase of that damned giant evap box. i finally cut the side of the stupid thing off while working on my engine becuase it doesn't work anyway and is a big nuisance. only real problem i had was the column shift linkage hits the driver side collector. after enough use it formed a nice little dent to sit in, though. heh.

the only way to get long tube headers in is to jack the front of the car WAY up (my wheels were probably a foot off the ground) to slide the headers in with the collectors first pointed at the ground. they should go in with some wiggling.

ground clearance has not been a problem with me. i've got at least six inches, maybe more. apparantly this isn't so on all cars, though, as i got these headers used and they had been banged up pretty good on the bottom.:Dou:

I got the same ones (Hooker Super Comp) on mine.

Installation was tough on the drivers side... but I agree, plenty of ground clearance... 5-6".

I have TA headers and they give excellent clearance.

Just put TA headers on mine but its still 2 feet in the air.I don't have a/c but there is more than enough room. Also have the 3 inch exhaust and have plenty clearance. The passenger side was easy but the driver side center bolt was a total pain to get in.Bought my headers used but there were 12 point bolts with.Do yourself a favor, use a 6 point bolt in the bolt hole in the center.Easier to get a wrench on it.

i've heard that 12 pts were a must for the center bolt.

i don't get the big fuss, though. i've gotten to the point where i can get the bottom center bolts on both sides from the top. the driver's side require some contorting, but it's better than stabbing the wrench blindly at it form under the car.:Dou:

    sbbuick My driving scares people!

My car is lowered about 2" in the front and the Hookers do NOT hit the ground. They are a very well designed header, IMO.

You people use normal wrenches?!!??!?!??! My god men! Get some ratchet wrenches!!!!
For $30 you can get a nice craftsmen set. Makes installing headers (and alot of other jobs) so much easier. Anything less would be uncivilized!
The passenger side bolts are defiantly tricky to get at. The rearmost bolt is easiest gotten from under the car.
As for getting them up there, they go up real easy if the car is jacked up enough. I'd just jack it up as much as you can.
The TA headers clear everything, and fit like a glove. My car is lowered on inch, and had one problem. They never scraped on anything, no speed bumps or anything. The problem I had was I caught the header flange on a bit of cement when I was backing up in front of my house. The cement was even with the grass, but the grass sunk down alot with the rain and stuff. It totally crushed the header. But this was a bit of a freak occurance, and in fact the original exhuast probally would have got caught on it.
