this car has a great working 3 speed columm shift transmission..i keep toiling
    with putting in a 4 speed..would be cooler but not orignal..but it's only a
skylark custom..mmm..what to do ?? is it worth it? most parts there for 4
speed..or 3 speed kinda rare?? thanks

If the only unoriginal parts are things like hoses/etc, I'd keep the 3 speed. If you don't have to cut/change anything drasticly to go from a 3spd to a 4spd, swap em out and save the 3spd for when you want to sell it as "all original numbers matching".g

I know that car. Any more photos? Did you fix the trunk? I would swap the column out and add a floor shifter. Just put the original parts in the attic.

I'd stick with it as is unless you're really going racing. I've had 3 spd tree shifters before and they're pretty interesting in themselves.

Look at it this way, no one will ever steal your car. I'd bet that 95% of the people under 30 have never even seen one of those things, let alone know how to shift it.

    Up to you

I'd probably put in the floor shifter myself though. I thought I read the 3 speed was actually a tad quicker in the 1/4 VS the 4 speed. :Do No: :bglasses:

It is your car, do what you want to get maximum enjoyment. :TU:
