Just curious what kind of money the JET guys want to coat a set of headers in the USA! Here in Canada they bend you over pretty hard, don't even get a kiss when they're done!!!

sorry guys what i ment was i didn't think that you could put the aluminum heads on 65 and up blocks because of a extra water passege and it will leak. About what is the compression ratio. And will it run on pump gas. If it does this is the combo i am going with i was thinking big block but i would be quite content with 300 rear wheel horse powerfrom my 300.

Asfor the headers they told me for a set of full length headers given the primary weren't to large it wold be $279 plus shipping. This was for the silver finish coated inside and out. Plus for that price the sand blast them. I wasn't to specfic when i emailed them i simply told them that they were full length so this is just a ball park estimint i don't think that they will be any cheaper. What do the charge in canada

    thanks Adam

    hey guys,

I see a few threads here to reply too. First off - Adam, I do have a 65 block w/ 64 heads. I can't say that I've ever heard of the water journals being different. I certainly would have known by now. I don't have any leaks or cooling problems. She sits at 160 all day long. As for the compression ratio, I'm currently at 11.5:1. You MUST use the 64 pistons w/ the 64 heads. The 65 pistons are different and will kill your ratio to 8.5:1 with the 64 heads. TRUST ME - I found out the hard way!!!!!! I am using the TH350 with a 2000 stall (which I hate!) and I altered the valve body to shift crisper but as hard as a shift kit. And the carb was a brand new Carter AFB - if I remember correctly it's a 700 CFM.

C.Habel - I got the dual valve springs from Poston. They were separate from the cam. My jet coating is the silver in and out on the full length headers - $150.00. A buddy of mine here in CT does the coating about 5 minutes from my house and the finish is spectacular! If ANYONE needs stuff coated let me know. And as far as questions in the future w/ your 300, feel free to pick my brain - I'll do the best I can. My home e-mail is 'grnlark@cox.net'.

    Thanks,
    Matt:Comp:

Matt thanks for all the info it has really changed my mind about the 300. I new it was a great engine but this just reinforced that. I have a couple more questios. Where did the gear drive and pistons come from are they poston pieces or from somewere else and will the engine run on pump gas. I was thinking with that kinda of compression it might not but it does have aluminum heads so i wasn't sure. This winter i will get back with you about getting my headers coated thats a good price i actually got on jet hots site and asked them there price and it was almost twice that. Thanks again for the help if i have any more question i shot you a line.

Well GRNLRK I certainly appreciate the info you have already given, $150.00 is a good price to coat a set of headers, I was at a show in Toronto asked a guy for a price, can't really remember what he said, but remember thinking I could choke a horse with the same wad of money it would take to get some coating done!
What do you use for gas to run that kind of compression? Also are you running stock size '64 valves in your heads. Sounds like a real interesting set-up you have there!
I thought I had heard something about problems making the '64 heads/intake fit a 65 block. I'll have to use the search function. Maybe I'll have to start cruising e-bay for some aluminum parts! The weight savings alone should be worth their weight in gold, stock '65 heads and intake would make good anchors for some cruise liner. Decent parts, just way to heavy!:TU:
