Housing....you mean air cleaner???? If so, I can usually get them. Email me direct at GStage1@buickperformance.com I need your reply no later than 11pm Eastern Friday....will be at the local yards on Sat.
You got it! I'm learning...slowly but surely. Just ordered that Rochester Carb book. Praying for decent weather this weekend so I can take some photos and do some work.
Did you find your manifold and carb yet? I need a set also, my manifold is rusted out, and Rochester is on like it's 4th re-build..
Not yet, but I'm thinking about going the TA route with either a rebuilt Q-Jet or Edelbrock carb. I'm still researching all the options to make the best choice. I'll probably never drag it, but I'd like to get a little more air coming in to compliment the dual exhaust I just put in. My current setup cold starts kinda hard and I know the carb needs to be rebuilt, so why not just beef it up instead? Plus, I figure if I invest in some solid new components now, it will save me headache and frustration later. What are you looking to do?
I have a complete 71 4bbl set-up. I will have to get it out to send pics. I believe the carb is in good condition. I also have a rebuilt carb on ebay now that is primo. My seller name on there is GStage1. I would strongly suggest your avoid the Edelbrock carb. Go with a good original Q-jet or have one rebuilt.
George, thanks for the tip. I'm gonna check out your auction. Who re-built the carb? - if I buy it, I get free installation advice too......right :TU: Could you dig out the 4bbl intake, and let me know what it looks like? Thanx I have a dual snorkle air cleaner, just waiting to slide under a GS hood. Too bad I can't finda a GS hood here, if I had the hood I would just give Michael my stock cleaner.
There are only 2 shops in this area that rebuild carbs and both are excellent. Rebuilds here usually run $180-200 so the one I have on Ebay is listed way below that amount....less than half. I will send pics of the intake on Friday if it is not raining here. It will need to be degreased and beadblasted.
Okay, I found it on ebay. So you don't know for sure who re-built it, but it appears to have been re-built? If we know for sure it's not some local guy, that would be good, but sounds like you really couldn't say for sure? I can beadblast, if you de-grease and intake looks clean, let me know how much you want for it. Sorry to hijack your thread Michael. You asked what am I looking to do. I am probably going with stock intake for now, but I sure like the look (and small performance increase) of the aftermarket aluminum, and will probably go that route some day. - George has the 4bbl air cleaner your looking for on ebay for sale right now too.
No sweat! I've emailed him about it already. It looks like I should go the Q-jet route. I'll look for one locally first and if no luck then I'll be back here searching...
If I had a 350 car that needed a Q-jet....I would have kept this carb. Since I don't need it... it is for sale. It is ready to bolt on and run. Intake is good.....as I stated previously...will need to be degreased/hot tanked and beadblasted. I will get pics tomorrow. Email me direct so we don't waste space here GStage1@buickperformance.com
Michael, I have another Q-jet....one from the 71 4bbl intake. I will have to look for it. Email your info as I sent you directly and I can give you a total with shipping by FedEx Home Delivery.
George, I won the auction on your "primo" carb! Check your e-mail. It's gonna be great to have a nice carb. The one I have now has stripped inlet threads and too many re-builds. Thanks for letting us know about this stuff!
Already sent you a total with shipping. Send your home phone please. If you PayPal tonite I will ship on Friday. Thanks!
Got home from BJ auction last night, opened package containing carb. Think there is a mix-up, will PM you.
