    Dan:

Would you say this is worthwhile to find a used piece and rehab it?

Given its function, I would imagine the metal may be fatigued and rusty.

I would hate to have this Bridgeported then have it fall into pieces.:gt:

Oh, you don't even have one to modify. I missed that. I think your gonna have to find one to make the pipes fit. I wonder if the manifold could have a concave area machined into it to except a donut? Just a thought. As far as finding a used one, usually the damage is a frozen flap. Since the flap isn't important that will do fine. DONT hammer on the thing to take it apart. The cast iron will bust! (anyone guess how I know this:Smarty: )

    More mystery

OK guys, the machine shop confirms it's the driver side.

Anyone have an example on a car they own?

That heat riser does act as a valve to block exhuast flow so the engine will warm up faster. It is very common for them to freeze up. If they freeze open, no real problem. If they freeze shut you'll have power problems....

I just checked 2 set's of manifolds I have, one from my car a, 72, and another from a junkyard car, I think was a 72. Niether had it.

I don't know what shipping would come to, but I'll send you one, or both for the cost of shipping. I have to go down and mail a package anyway.

DEADMANSCURVE my first word : truck

    heat riser

when cold the heat riser valve shuts and forces the warm exh. up through the intake cross-over passage to warm the engine up a little quicker . as the engine warms up the valve goes back ( if you're lucky ) to the open position and allows the exh. to flow back out normally . can't be too good for flow either way . del

    David,
I HAVE THE ORIGINAL MANIFOLDS OFF OF A 71 GSX 350 THAT A BUDDY OF MINE USED TO OWN.THEY HAVE BEEN BLASTED A FEW YEARS AGO BUT ARE IN TERRIFIC SHAPE.THE BIG THING IS THEY DO NOT HAVE THE HEAT RISER IN THEM EITHER.I ALSO FOUND A HEAT RISER PART THAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. ITS NOT IN THE BEST SHAPE BUT CAN BE CLEANED UP.I THINK YOU WOULD BE WASTING YOUR TIME PORTING YOURS SINCE THIS LOOKS VERY RESTRICTIVE. MAYBE THATS THE INTENT OF IT.PART NUMBERS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
    PASSENGER 1236336
    DRIVER 1234655
JUST AS A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE,I HAVE AT LEAST 10 OR MORE MANIFOLDS AND ALL HAVE THE HEAT RISER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.I HAVE 4 THAT I LOOKED AT TODAY.
