    Hey guys,

I got a buddy with a 69 Jeep 4x4. It has the Buick 350 in it. When idling it has good oil pressure, but when he's driving down the road, the oil pressure gauge goes down to about 15 psi. The engine has been rebuilt w/ new timming cover & wear plate at the pump. BTW, this just started happening. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance, Wes

Any leaks? I knew someone who's oil pump bolt (where the regulator spring goes ) came loose. That'll do it.

    Wes,
What's the pressure at idle?? I would check the oil pressure relief spring. It's located behind the big foward facing bolt in the oil pump cover/filter nipple. The spring may be collapsed or broken, or the valve may be stuck in it's bore. If not, as was mentioned, the pick up may be blocked or have a loose mounting/air leak at the block attachment.

    Thanks Guys,

I've emailed him with your ideas. I also asked for more info about the pressure. I'll post more when it comes in.

    Thanks again, Wes
