    Just wonderin... :Brow:

Does anybody know how feasible a 350 Buick S-10 would be to build? You wouldn't have the distributor/firewall issue to contend with, and it the whole assembly has the potential to be a bit lighter than the regular SBC swap. You'd have to drill the crossmember for the Buick mounts, which might be odd?

It's just a thought. It sure would make a neat sleeper, though.

Also, just out of curiosity, who here has done the SBC S-10 swap?

My brother did a SBC into an S-10 many years ago. Pretty easy swap.:TU: Made up some custom frame mounts....turned out pretty slick!!:bglasses: Gets a bit tight up in the radiator area. I'd recommend an electic fan.

I've thought about installing a SB Buick 350" into my '86 Mazda B2000. Should be a nice combo.....high TQ engine in a light body!!:TU:

A friend of mine has an Olds 307 in his S-10. I'd imagine the Buick would fit better by the firewall due to the front mount dist. The external pump and filter might be an issue. I say give it a try.

I just finished a g-body wagon from a3.8 to the 350 Buick easy swap! The 3.8 g-body mounts might work I have been thinking about that swap for a daily driver. A 350 with a 2004r would get great mileage but not be a Honda!

    Scott,

My buddy just did a 305 SBC into his Mazda B2000... talk about tight!! It fits, though, and it was a pretty good swap. He's just finishing up the body right now, so it hasn't hit the road, but I'll bet it'll scoot. :)

Dan, that 307 S-10 sounds pretty different. I've got a couple of those motors out back here, one with a 2004-R. Hmmm....

Mrfido, you got pics of that wagon?

I did a 350 Buick to 1985 S-10 several years ago. I first had a 3.8 V6 in the truck till it went bad. I couldn't wait to have it fixed so I put the 350 V8 that was in the corner of garage in it.
Here is what had to do to make it work.
1: The mounts were already there as they were welded in for V6.
2: I had to make a dent in the crossmember to clear the large starter of the V6, didn't need to that again.
3:Right side exhaust manifold had to be milled at the top on an angle so the bottom was closer to the starter in order to clear the frame, also had to dent the frame.
4: Left side exhaust manifold did fit, however, there wasn't any room for the steering shaft to clear. Had to move the shaft to the left on the fire wall for clearance, felt funny when you were behind the wheel. NOTE: The motor in an S-10 sets to right a little, that let the manifold cleared the frame.
5: Had to make an offset steering with extra bearing mount.
6: Wiring fit with a little extra wire for Dist. , Alt, an oil pressure switch. Electric fan was needed.
7: Used 350 metic trans. with 9" tail, could use 7004R.
