Could it work. I have a friend who figures a Chevy 350 TBI should be able to handle a stock 455. I think it's too small. What says you? How many CFM would a stock 455 need? Is carb CFM the same as TBI CFM? What about a tune? TT
The biggest 2-bbl TBI's I'm aware of are 640cfm units and largest injector pairs I know of are 95 lb/hr. Which is the equivalent to eight 24lb/hr multiport injectors, which at max will support 350 crank HP, and that is pretty optimistic IMO. If you built a 300 crank HP 455 then it would probably do okay. There are the old aftermarket 950cfm 4bbl TBI's, that would essentially double that HP number and likely work fine.
What about running a dual quad intake with 2 of the sbc 350 throttle bodies? Seems like that should support 500 HP? Derek
Yes that would work. I think the 350 TBI's are 400-450 CFM, and injectors are like 65 lb/hr stock, so you may need to upgrade the injectors.
