Aright guys i got a quick qestion for ya. I got a 69 special deluxe with a 350 and a st-300 in it, and i got a 430 with a th-400 i want to put in it. i know i will have to change the motor mounts and shorten the drive shaft, new radiator, etc.. But i wasn't sure if i would have to move the crossmember for the tranny back or mess with the brake lines any. Oh yea one more thing into the mix the tranny is a chevy , i know i'll have to change the bell-housing but is there anyother mods i have to make.
That's a great site thanks. but do you know if i will have to make any special mods to the chevy trans. to make it work or will it just bolt in with a new bellhousing.
You cannot swap Bellhousings on a th400. It is part of the tranny housing itself. You can buy an adapter, but I have heard it is very clumsy, and is a real pain the shorts to install. its about 100 bucks or so. Look in Summit or Jegs.
Why do you have a chebby tranny in your car? Did you have an SBC 350 in it? The 430 should bolt up to the TH350 (assuming it was bolted to a Buick engine in the first place.
i do have a buick 350 and a st 300 in the car now, but i have a 430 and i could get a chevy th400 that i wanted to put in it. but todd would you be willing to ship your 67 th400 and if so was it rebuilt recently.
I could ship it, but has for being rebuilt recently - it hasn't. I pulled it out of my old '67 GS400 and put it in my '67 Special where I drove it for about 2 years before I swapped it out for a TH350. (for better gas mileage) and its been sitting in dry storage since then, which is about 4 years. That's the scoop. Cheers
I have a long tail TH400 I could sell you. it was rebuilt, with about 30k on the re build. it has been sitting since 99. Ran fine. it needs a bushing inside the Tailhousing. which is an easy job. I'm local to you. All I want is 100, with a stock converter. Joe...
