Hi guys, looking at a 1971 skylark convertible. It appears to have the 350 ultra hi comp engine in it per the "original" air cleaner assembly sticker.. Was this engine in fact offered in 1971 and what was the factory hp rating..? It appears to have been a factory dual exhaust car. Any links to engine code and hp #'s would be greatly appreciated..
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi Warren -

Sounds like a 1970 GS-350 sticker to me, not a 1971. I haven't heard of an 'ultra' high compression motor in any year Buick, just 'Hi-Compression' in 1970 350 10.25:1 engines only.

Here is link to GS HP ratings in these motors.

    Might be an olds

    Warren;

I have seen an "Ultra" high compression olds 350 engine before.
Never heard of a Buick offering for Ultra high. Did the sticker have a Buick logo or namesake? Also, what color is the paint on the engine (Valve covers, intake manifoild, etc...)?

Interesting to see....if you get a chance snap a photo.

    Take care,

    Ed

It's a buick.. I say "ultra hi comp" but it may have just said hi compression or something similiar.. Red buick paint on the engine, valve covers, etc.. I'm sure someone could have put the sticker on there..
The vin is 444671H130841 if you can give me any info on it..
    Thanks..

Think I've seen "High Compression" Buick

Just for kicks here is the UHC olds decal for Air Cleaner

    Hope you can see it.

    Piston picture needed !

Is it possible that someone got a picture, or knows a www address with a picture of the pistons in these High Compression engines. The "ordinary" 9,0:1 piston will do, if there only is a picture out there ......
I've been locking all over, (almost) but no luck so far:ball:
