The yard I been hauling scrap into and out of (read: great deals on engines) has a complete rusty '73 Mustang that has a 351 Cleveland 2bbl. Is it worth saving. I just hauled a '70 350 Olds (#6 heads [THANKS, DAVE H.:TU: ]) & TH350, a '72 400 Magnum, '65 383 4bbl and have to yet get the '74 440 out. The heads on the 2v 351C engine are ok for street action, the ports are smaller than the 4v monsters that most folks talk about for upper rpm power. Nowadays it seems people are favoring the 351W engines...parts are cheaper and the aftermarket has a lot to offer. Devon
for the buick standing facing the water pump the distributor hold down bolt is at 10:00 to the distributor it is a 455. also it will hve cored in the cating top side by where the trans bolts to the engine "455" if it is a 455.
If you can get the VIN, check for a "Q" in the 5th position. If so, grab it quick, since that would be the HiPo version, which is highly desirable, (and rather rare). That is, unless someone has previously swapped out the original engine.
the engine is just sitting in the middle of the yard so I don't know what is was in. Any vin on the block?
