Bill Porterfield Bill Porterfield of Lansing area (out in Haslett now) did do one of those mid engines in a Salon/442 Buttless. It was pretty neat. I think Hot Rod Harry on the East Coast had it for a while, saw it on ebay a coupla years ago. Russ Hall (also of Olds engineering) did a Chevette with a Toro drive train in the back. That was an engineering masterpiece. I saw it last at Bill's "Cool Car Show" at the REO museum a few years back. I think he still has that show out at his place near Wiliamston and Haslett.
