Per the 1970 Buick Assy Manual page 5-9.1 (Parking brake information assembly) The front brake cable assy is only installed trough the slot in the cross member on a TH-400 Transmission car. On Th-350 & 3-4 speed cars it goes over top of the cross member.

    Hope this helps :)

It is a top X car for sure. So now we have QQ and 10-10 Carolina GSXs for sale. (It is getting kind of lonely down here.)

Jason asked why all these x cars are coming to the market. I venture forth two reasons. First, GSX cars have gone way up in price during the last two years. Second, the recent gas price jump is making people nervous so they are hedging their bets and cashing in some X car assets.

Some of us all too well recall the 1974 gas rationing days. They were certainly a factor in accelerating the demise of the muscle car era which by that time was already on the wane. In 1974-5 you could not give a muscle car away.

I have to jump in here on the "gas price" issue. I wouldn't sell any of my cars other than my daily driver because of gas prices. In fact I just did get a more economical car for my daily commute of 60 miles return. Last week I filled my tank for 32.00. Today it cost me 41.20 for the same amount! That's why I bought a more economical daily driver.

However, when it comes to my hobby cars, the price of gas would never influence a decision to sell them. For 500 miles per year or less, the price of gas just isn't a factor. I doubt that someone with a $80,000 to $100,000 GSX is worried about gas prices to the extent they need to sell it. I think a bigger factor in the number of GSX's for sale is the increase in value in the past year. However, this increase in value is not limited to GSX's. Many Buicks have gone up considerably in the past year.

The musclecar market is similar to the stock market and real estate. Its knowing when to "cash out" so to speak. Some of you guys may remember the musclecar boom of the early 90s when prices skyrocketed. I dont think the prices we're seeing are sustainable much longer. The bubble is going to burst and prices will fall just like last time. Dont get too excited, your not going to be picking up GSX's for peanuts anymore. Those days are long gone. But prices will drop to a more reasonable level. I was fortunate to see this particular GSX live and in person in Batavia. It is beautiful! The pictures dont do it justice.

Sounds like a nice car, and I can't wait to see it, but let's start a new thread on it and let 820mason keep the attention of this thread to his car. Just my thoughts, especially considering he is a new board member. :TU:

James the owners of the two cars we are talking about are close friends so there is no issue.

    Jim,
Thanks for the info. I was thinking that if both auctions are running at the same time that it could hurt both sellers since the potential buyers have a choice, and may hold out just to see what the first one brings. Do you think that may be why the other two QQ cars stalled at the end of their auctions and the reserve was not met? If so, and these owners are friends, wouldn't you think they should wait to list the second car? Just a thought.

I'm a little surprised the QQ Stage 1 recently on Ebay didn't bring 6 figures too. Some of the best cars never sell on Ebay. It is however a great place to advertise.

Some really nice numbers matching LS6 Chevelles ring up to 70K-90K on Ebay. Then when one of the best in the world shows up, like the one last week, it exceeds 150K. Must be a big price difference in a truly world class car and one close to being world class!!

Probably the same for the X's. Patrick

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

I think George is right about the rearend being a 8.5", notice it has the 2 "ears" hanging down at the 5 o'clock & 7 o'clock positions, I believe a '70 8.2" rearend has no ears at all. (look at the undercarriage picture of the yellow GSX on ebay for comparison, no "ears"). As George said, this is a minor issue I don't think having a non-original rearend housing is going to hurt the value very much since most people only seem to be really concerned with the engine and transmission being original.

This car is indeed very beautiful and I only wish I could afford to own it, I love those white GSXs! I wish him luck with the auction. It's surprising that so many nice nice GSXs have hit ebay recently.
