Please bear with me im a newbie.
I have a 69 gs400 convertable. I purchaced a consolette for it but it doesnt fit right, it hangs over the tunnel from 1-2 inches. The car is factory 4 speed but had bench seats originally. Is the 4 speed consolette different for 69?
Anyone out there run into this?

I'm not 100% sure but I think the consolette was only for bucket seat cars...I don't see why the tunnel wouldn't be the same?

    gs4u2c Is that a 442?

The consolettes themselves (castings) are the same..they don't fit flush against the carpet so I'm not exactly sure what you're describing...? They may not clear a bench seat.

Hey guys thanks for your quick response. I e-mailed some pics to Jason to post but if your saying its supposed to hang over the tunnel then i think its ok. I just thought i might have something wrong.

Looks like it fits just fine from the pictures :beer . There are three large sheetmetal screws that hold the lower piece in place on the tunnel. I assume you have the lower retaining ring that screws to the floor for the boot? For a console application there is a different lower boot for the same ring.

    While we're on the subject.....
Is there a correct repo lower boot available? The few I've seen look like the Chevelle boots- They work, but aren't 'correct'.

I only have the upper boot and ring that attaches to the console is a lower boot available?

Scott is right. I bought one and compared it to my original. It appears correct. I think a recent OPG books says they now have them. Pricy for rubber but better than no boots.

    Thanks Guys!
But my '66 has a round stick.....lower boot is #388494; upper boot is # 1361008

    The Parts Place lists:
    #cp1386s 'Lower boot w/ console for '66
and #cp1387s 'Lower boot w/ console for '70
and #cp1387s 'Upper Boot w/ console' for both '66 and '70.....

At least there's a good chance the lower boot is correct! Guess I'll be the 'guinea pig'!

Ask Joe on the phone. He is kind of abrupt. I think he had these remade in the Far East from what he understands to be the correct originals.

I bought a upper boot for Buick console from the Parts Place this this spring. I was from Metro, the number was RP 33-Z. It fits the ring but is to thick compared to an original one. Difficult to get the lower ring on and the clips. It is also gloss finish and I think the orginal ones were more of a flat black. I see that Softseal lists one for 65/72 four speed upper and lower boot. Has any one bought the upper from them? Does anyone else make one that may work better? I can post picturs of the Metro and my original one it that will help. Thanks Bill Sangster.

Picture one of OEM and Metro upper boot.

Picture two of the thickness of the Metro compared to the OEM.

The OEM was from a 68 GS.

    Thanks Bill Sangster

I have the metro boot as well. Yes, it looks nothing like the original, but as Jim said it better than no boot. Much thicker than the original. I left the inner ring off and used nuts and washers on the studs. With the extra thickness of the Metro boot, I dont feel the lower ring is as important. The lower boot for the console application I ordered was a very thin low grade piece. The price was steep too...60.00 comes to mind. But again, what are you going to do? Its the only one available. At least nobody can see it!
