I used the felpro on my last engine build and the water outlets were blocked (refer to the circled area). On the steel, NOS gaskets, these holes were OPEN.
With that said, who has the correct head gasket for the 400/ 430? Part number?

    Thanks

TA Performance sells the original steel shim gaskets for the 400/430.

Don't worry about it. Those particular holes in the block aren't there for large volume coolant flow, they're there to give casting sand an exit after the casting process. The small holes in the gasket are there to prevent small pockets of air, that's it.

Yup, the cooling system is designed to pump the water to the rear of the engine thru the block, and the return it to the radiator via the heads.

    Try this option on E-bay:

Put in "Buick head gasket (insert bore diameter) " into the search box.

Did that.. I did use Felpros and had a LARGE amount of 'sludge' built up behind the 'sand casting' hole. On the Buick steel NOS gaskets, that hole was the same diameter as the casting hole... So.. Just want to spend my $$$ on the correct part (gasket)...
