I believe the oil passage mod was done. If not, I will be sure to have the machine shop do that. From 1/2" to 5/8" right? That 485hp is both impressive, and encouraging. Thanks!!
I'll definitely take that into consideration. The cam I am using will be the TA-212. I have an Offenhauser dual quad intake, but I think that may be a pain with the whole 2-carb set up and all.
Mine is a 70 block with 73 heads, I do not recall any changes for water passages. Yes 1/2 up to 5/8's
The 212 cam would work well, but stay away from the 2x4 intake! I think you would be sorry if you ran that on a mild street car. Do it once, and do it right the first time.... think it trough and then think again before you start. You will end up much happier and less costly to get the same results! Brian
I have heads that have been ported and Stage 1 valves. The heads are truely the way to get the power up in a Buick. Mine has a pretty mild cam as I wanted it to be easily drivable for my wife. With small valves and less porting you still shouldn't have much problem getting 400hp.
as for the water passages, there is a water passage in the later heads 74-76 that you have to plug if you try to put on a eariler block and intake, or the coolent will run in the lifter vally.
Yes, Brent. Please tell us what head work has been done, and what cam you have and where it is degreed. That way we can know what ballpark ours is in. Mine is a 71 block, .030 over forged pistons, decked block, ported and polished Stage1 heads, TA 288-94H cam 230/240*, ported B4B intake, Jet Perfoirmance Stage3 Holley 850, TA shorties and 2 1/2" exhaust. I'm assuming 450HP?
