OK guys, give me a little advise here. I am gathering parts for a 455 to put in my 65 Skylark(GS Clone) The motor is a 71 , out of an Electra. I don't want a race car but I do want to show some of these wise a$$ kids around here those long, beautiful tailights. I plan on a cam with good low end about 10-1 compression and 2 fours( not because I need them really, just because, you know) I happened on the remains of a 67 Wildcat with the biggest part of the motor still in it. Block is more than likely junk as it has set full of water for years. The good part is it has big port heads,#1382983.If I can buy them right and they don't turn out to be cracked, would I gain more by using these 430 heads with mild port job or use the 71 heads with some porting on them? Like I said I don't want an all out racer and can"t spend the bucks for Stage 1 heads. I will be using manifolds instead of headers as the car will be a 4spd and I don't want to fight headers and clutch linkage. So tell me, what do you think? Thanks, Mike

i would use the 71 heads, after porting the 71 heads are just as good as the 430 heads, and are a better casting.
