Hi everybody!! I got some great help since my last thread in tha Juice Box. Had a vaccuum problem for sure that kept the 455 go out in gear. Got that all solved as far as I can tell.... I hope. Its now going like a rocket :3gears: , pulls real great, but still has a flaw. When putting in gear, no problem what so ever, but when you touch the gaspedal just normal it bogs a fraction of a second (mostly engine stops) after bogging it picks up big time. Tried it at different initial timing from about 6-14 degrees, but all same bogging. I have set dwell at about 30-31. Is it a carb problem? o No: Hope you guys can help me forward. :beer
Verify accelerator pump operation. With the engine off, look inside the carburetor and open the throttle. You should see a steady squirt of fuel while the throttle is opening, and it should stop once you stop moving the throttle. If you have a good steady squirt, try moving the accelerator pump linkage to another hole on the arm. The arm I refer to is on the driver's side of the carburetor, directly behind the front mounting bolt. There is a rod with a clip that goes through the arm, there should be at least 1 other hole to choose from. Some carbs do not have the extra holes, in which case carburetor R&R will most likely be necessary. If the timing is correct, as you state in your post, the issues are most likely caused by carburetor problems.
Its the accelerator pump, replace it,and/or the secondary air flap spring is too loose and is opening a little too early.Try winding it up about an eighth of a turn. gary
