Contact Rob Girioux, RobsBuick here on V8, http://www.v8buick.com/member.php?1755-Robsbuick Here is an example of Rob's work, http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.p...-Covers-W-Billet-Fill-Cap-gt-gt-gt&highlight=
Rob's are very nice, but they're not fabricated.... they're machined. Here are mine. PM me for more info. Thanks, Steve
Thanks, My material costs are on the high side, but I can't imagine what Robs costs are for chunks of billet that size!! Robs valve covers are definitely a masterpiece! Steve
They start at $325 for bare (with no accessories) and have additional costs for features welded on. As an example an O-ring style screw in filler cap as pictured above is $55 installed. These have 1/4" thick bases made of 6061 T6 and the bodies are 5000 series .090" sheet aluminum. I used to offer the fully polished version for $100 extra, as that's what the local polishers charged me, but I haven't sent them a pair in years, so I don't know what the current costs are. One thing I do know is that they polish up very easily. If I take a set "as welded" and apply a quality aluminum polish by hand, they have the look of a "semi polished" valve cover. If I had to rate the shine I would give it a 7 out of 10 (10 being full polish). I would apply the aluminum polish and machine buff it off (for an even better finish) for $20 per set... just to cover my costs. Steve
