They've made 1 flex plate for the 455. But try finding one that isn't cracked. Low milers are the only place I've found them. Anything with over 50,000 miles will prolly have a cracked one. TA sells sfi approve ones for around $200, standard ones are under $100 I think.

my reason for asking is that I have a brand new flex plate on my motor and for some reason the starter nose snaped off .The guy at the local starter shop were I took it to be repaired said that it looks like it has the wrong plate but I told him that there was only one plate used on the 455.So I thought I would ask around so I dident look like a uniformed moron when I go on tue to pick it up

  4. make sure its shimed right.
it'll snap if its not shimed right and to tight or to lose to the flywheel

what should I check for when shiming it

  6. if there where no shims in it i have the bendex gear held out and make sure it meshes well with the flywheel but not to tight
when you took it out how many shimms where in it?

Use a 1/8" spacer "drill bit" between the starter shaft & the flex plate to shim it correctly. Most times it's the starter that varies.
