    Hi

Once upon a time, I saw a listing for a company that rebuilt & guaranteed harmonic balancers.

    Anybody have suggestions?

Lost all my info in a tragic virus infestation. Trying to restore lost info.

    Thanks

Go to Buickperformance.com for a California company. About $90.00. I have used them. Also the parts section behind Buicks in Hemmings.

Just be careful. I was told the timing mark must be above the keyway. The balancer I got from Damper Doctor was WAAAY off. 1/2" or more. I returned it and kept my original. If anyone has used one that is OK please let us know!

    Damper Dudes in Redding, CA.

Working great for my 455. You need a core to send them for $30. Cost is $100 out of pocket. Then score a mark at 30 degrees (1.75" CW) around the new damper for easy timing.

If you send you balancer out to these guys, be sure to take a picture of the balancer before sending. Also mark the orientation of the outer ring.
I sent mine to them and when I got it back, they changed the orientation of the outer ring so now the timing mark lines up with nothing. Also, there were "heavy weights" installed in the outer ring by GM which they removed and now say "I didn't need them". Also, they dip the whole balancer in paint which is a pain in the butt because you have to clean off their black paint before anything.
I didn't think I needed to tell these "professionals" how to do their job, but, I guess I'm mistaken. Caveat Emptor!

Those weights were put there by GM to balance your engine.:eek2:

Have you noticed any vibration since putting it back on?

    balancer reply

No, I didn't put the balancer on the motor. I am sending it back to the DUDS to have them fix what they screwed up. I also instructed them to return my weights. I'm sure I'm in for a real battle with these guys. I will have the Credit Card company "retrieve" my money if they don't make it right.
I'll keep this BB posted on the outcome. Thanks for asking.

Okay, I have a vibration. My DD balancer came back with no weights. How did you make out with them? I had mine over a year before putting it in service, so I am sure I am screwed.
