Turn the GE meter to VDC 12 volts is the same as the test light.

Need to keep the camera right on the spark gap. Is the distributor loose?

Alright can do again. Distributor certainly didnt seem loose. All 8 wires?

That vid was taken yesterday hadn't flipped weights yet

So it won't stay running long enough to put the timing light on it?

It might. It needed a bit of throttle before settling down which is always a case cuz i have no choke. Besides that, however, it was running pretty crappily and at low enough idle it seemed to want to die. Something like 300rpm no bs. So. Yeah. Fun times hahah. So im gonna give a shot at flippin these weights. So where should i go from there then? Spark test all 8 wires? Go thru TORQUED's procedures? Just dont wanna mess anything up worse than it is and trying of course to keep up with the info you gents are dishin out

No, don’t test all of the wires with the spark tester and you don’t have to test the ignition system anymore since the procedures I’ve outlined were for a “no start” situation.

You”ve changed all of the spark plugs, correct?

I really would like to see some pictures of your spark plug wire routing.

Yes, get/keep the engine running and check the timing. Do you know how to do that?

I’m shocked this hasn’t been solved already. This doesn’t appear to be a big issue, or there’s something we are somehow all missing.

I’m not really annoyed with anyone in particular, just the car in question

You need to check the timing. If you connect the light first and have the GF start the engine, it will take you no more than 10 seconds. Make sure you wipe the timing tab (scale ) clean and highlight the groove in the harmonic balancer so you can see everything clearly. Disconnect and plug the Vacuum advance if you are using it.

All plugs replaced and gapped per Larrys recommendation and yeah ive read how to check timing so ill give it a whirl. Im a newb. Put the distributor weights back on upside down then and crank it over?

Put the weights back to what it was doing before

You may want to install a baffle under the hole in the valve cover, get a breather that has a filter in it, or wrap a sock around the breather.

Because I'm paranoid, I'd also replace the pcv valve and do a compression test.

The weights looked fine to me, leave them the way they were.

I still can’t see what I want to see for the spark plug wire routing. Oh well. That’s some interesting heater hose plumbing you’ve got going on there.

Yeah thats what exploded on me to begin with. Obviously the heater core is shot and has been bypassed. One of the little plastic connectors broke hahah. Anyways, tried checking timing. It said 10 exactly. It was actually running well just now. Did plugging that vacuum have something to do with it? Im gonna see about backing it down thr driveway and back up again

Ok. Ran under its own power. Backed it down the driveway. Light throttle seemed a bit boggy but then settled off. Any real throttle and it died. Dammit

I know you said your float levels were good, but it sure sounds like a fuel problem to me.

I would also check the mechanical advance to make sure it was functional, same for the vacuum advance.
