I'm thinking about replacing the intake and carb on my Skylark. I got a deal on an S-Divider that I couldn't pass up, basically free, so there's no returning it. I just noticed there is some wear to the bolt holes on the passenger side, they're a little out of round, but not too bad. So... please assume I know nothing on the subject and am starting from scratch. Will it seal correctly with the funky bolt holes? Is the stock valley pan gasket ok? Does the stock gasket need sealant of any type? Anything ports I should plug? Am I forgetting anything? Thanks, John
It has a new Edelbrock 1407 (750 cfm) for the time being on top of a 1" open spacer. Can't tell if it makes more power, but it sure accellerates smoother. Doesn't smoke on startup anymore either. John
:TU: :beer :TU: Glad its working out for you John....when you originally posted, I held back responding as I had a terrible time with one and didn't want to taint your luck Someday....we'll hookup, Fry some tires and drain some LiPo's together Any chance you'll make it to any events this year ??
Yeah Alan, I'd heard some bad things but then read the spacer helped a ton. Downsizing the carb didn't help, but the new condition of it more than made up for the 50 cfm drop. Still have a few little things to do, like valve cover gaskets, but it's pretty much going to run this way till I replace the motor. The smog-railed, EGR valved, cast iron boat anchor wasn't doing me any favors. Just bought three 2S2P Etech 2400 packs from that vendor on Ebay. I normally hate doing that cause returns can be a PITA. We'll see how they work. Not much chance of me going anywhere this year. Had to go back to work full time to pay off the debts. That's life.
