Hi all, I have a buddy that is contemplating this idea. What all is involved in this swap? Main thing is, is there any cutting of the car? I know that Poston sells the headers for this application. How would you mount the engine to the frame? If anybody here has done this please give me a full run down. Thanks.
I remember an old Hot Rod magazine where they stuffed a 454 into a 3rd generation Camaro - only needed a hood scoop for clearance. The 2nd gens like yours didn't change much from the early 70s, and you could get a 454 back then. So clearance isn't a problem, it'll bolt right in. It should bolt right in. Others on the board will give you details you need to put a Buick 455 in. Probably just motor mounts (readily available) and a little rewiring on the starter circuit. The Buick should weigh less than a Chevy 454 too.
A friend of mine had one in a '73, he used to go to BG with it, was blue. Some of you may remember, Gordon Rojewski, he also had an '80's GMC pickup he pulled an enclosed trailer with a 455! He's not playing with Buicks at this time, you can try and email him at:here and see if he will share any of his secrets.
