Picked up some PennGrade oil and a Wix filter. Drained oil, removed filter made sure I got a much oil out as I could. Buttoned up, put in 4.75 quarts. Started and let run for about 5 minutes. Then shut off, let sit for a bit and checked the dipstick. Its showing above the full line about a quarter of an inch. Should I drain some oil out? These should take 5 quarts with the filter right?

Ok cool. Thanks. Expected it to be a little low was surprised to see it high. I guess some will leak out the oil pan gasket and rear seal soon anyway

If the filter drain back is not perfect, it could be draining some back, so you really are not "overfull". And some sticks are "off" when properly filled.

And sometimes, the wrong stick is being used, after 55 year old car having slept in so many guy's garages...

Put the correct amount of oil in the engine.

Re-mark the stick. A centerpunch is better than a chisel. Dipsticks tend to crack if re-marked with a chisel. Then the bottom piece falls off and is trapped in the oil pan.

But she told me she has only been with 2 other people LOL

That makes sense, the drain back from the filter.

Here is the dipstick, I think its the correct one, but could be wrong.

    Yeah, that's a 455 Rivi stick.

I would not sweat it and see if it shows different next oil change. If it is consistent when proper amount is added, do what Schurkey suggests and add a "full" mark to where is shows.
