Here is a link to pictures of both the car and the motor. It is a 72 4 door Estate Wagon with a Buick 455 AC/th400, possi. I am letting the lubrication soak in and I will try to turn it by hand. http://www.c2e.info/midsizebowties/forum/coppermine/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=0 Hopefully I will use the motor and trans in a different car.
Here this works http://www.c2e.info/midsizebowties/forum/coppermine/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=0
Talk about your fix-er-uppers!. Is that a picture after the car had been attempted to be crushed????? Demolition derby car??? Get your Tetanus shot before you attempt to play with that beast. Hope the heart is still good (455), cause the body looks like it died a long time ago. Good luck with your venture:TU:
The guys who wrecked it bought it new in 72 and drove it untill 80 on Vancouver Island. The od is at 14,000 so it is probly 114,000 since it was less than 10 years old. There are bullet holes in the body, and they were falling trees with it for fun. They made it a convertable with a tractor and drove it around the bush for a few weeks. They claim they almost pulled the motor because it still ran strong untill the end, but all they took was the carb. I just bought a engine stand so I want the motor and trans to rebuild.
:jd: :jd: :jd: :jd: :jd: :jd: :jd: :jd: :jd: :jd: wow, I think I would pull the motor, and forget about trying to get it to run. Its not like you can drive it anywhere o No:
Yeah, I just want to make sure it isn't frozen before I pull it. Because of were it is it isn't as simple as hooking up a hoist, my friend will use a Bobcat to pull it and the th400. Even if it is frozen I'll still pull it, I just won't be as excited. Notice how it's a convertable now!!
I would try using an electric style low rpm buffer first to see how much of the paint will come back.........
Ha Ha! I thought I would show you guys the pics so you know what I'm dealing with. Even if the motor is siezed I will have a block and some parts to start a project. I have a buyer for the th400 so that could help pay for the motor rebuild. Or I could rebuild both. We will see!
I'll have to check it to make sure it is still the possi rear. It could have been switched though I doubt it. I'll post it in the parts for sale section if it is still a possi. I definitely won't use the rear as it is a leave spring one. I might put the motor trans in a regal, when they are rebuilt.
hey 455wagon, where are you? Washington or W. Canada? i might be interested in that Posi rear and i am in Seattle so maybe we could meet somewhere local.. easier than shipping it. also, you should be sure to check out the meets section as there are some Buick events coming up in the NW. and i know of at least one guy in Vancouver who will be attending most events even as far as Puyallup.
Yeah that sounds good, I live on vancouver island and I don't want to ship it. I will pull of the cover this weekend and find out for sure that it is a possi.
