I just finished buttoning up the front of my 455. New roll master, TA booster plate, stage 1 fuel pump and a water pump from TA. The first water pump from TA I sent back becouse of a bad impeller ( it was wobbley) the second one appeared to be fine,so put it all together painted the cover and when I fired it up I had a slight tick coming from inside the timing cover, no prob, pulled the fuel pump off and ovaled out the mounting hole's, bringing the whole thing forward about 1/16"th and the tick was gone. I then put the air cleaner on and drove it out of the garage for a test run. After about 6 blocks I get this horrable sound under the hood, lost the power steering, upon inspecting the thing and pulling the belt out (drove home with no PS) the water pump pulley is wobbleing pretty severly,so I take the fan and the pulley off and the thing the fan bolt's to (stator?) is completely loopy on the shaft. I'm pretty peeved that I gotta pull the thing apart again and put another water pump on and I'm not real sure I want to try another from TA. IS this a fluke that I got two pumps in a row with major quality issue's. Any one else ever have these kind of problems with a stinkin water pump? Dana :af:
Most likely a fluke. Bad batch of pumps I would suspect. :error: Call TA and see what they do. Personally I went the electric Mezerie route, no belts to lose! Plus more HP.
