    Is anyone on this site using the Ford rod?

    To get the 482 cubes the crank needs to be offset ground that will make the rod journal smaller in diameter to get the extra stroke by moving the centerline of the rod journal outward. With the stock rods they want a rod journal size of 2.250" or for the undersize bearings available. A 482 modified crank needs a rod that will accommodate a journal size of 2.100" to increase the stroke to 4.050" from 3.900", an extra .150" of stroke.

    And no, they don't make .150" undersize bearings.:rolleyes::D

    Well using an AutoTec you probably would but I'm not so sure about that company lately from what I have been hearing and seeing about them.:eek:

    Is that for BBB 482 pistons or BBB 464 pistons?

    Using the Ford 5.4L rods they are;

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-MODUL...038818?hash=item2877872aa2:g:8e4AAOSwFhFZzTEa

    Use to be able to get lessor expensive ones(around $120 less and still rated for 700 + HP with ARP rod bolts like the above ones) than the above, must be a lot of 5.4L builds that bought up the other ones?:mad::( But still around $250 less than the made for BBB 482 rods.

    So probably be best to go with the Molnar 482 rods and Diamond piston kit possibly from Trishield Performance? Unless an inexpensive off the shelf piston is available for the Ford rods that will work?

    464. Stk rod and stroke.

    Auto tech wouldnt, it would had to go in the race tech line, and they didnt have the files fir thr valve placement from afr since they twisted them.

    Seems like every time I called about that customer piston everyone only wanted to do the better 2018??? Might not be the right number, instead of the 4032????again might be wrong number

    We were not building an all out race motor, just basic bottom end for a street mustang, but he sprang for new design heads and intake

    AutoTec would and out of the lessor expensive 4032 alloy. Its basically because of the length of the Ford rod just a reduced compression distance 455 piston they offer with a smaller wristpin.

    Guess that's true it's really a custom piston file, just pin height adjustment

    I am closely watching this thread as I am about to make the same decisions. So I hope Matt is ok with me asking some questions as well.

    What would be the best options when on top are TA Stg1 heads with cast manifolds and bottem end is a stock crank that is not offset ground?
    In my case I already have a Performer Intake.

    The same place you buy them from. TA, Tri Shield Performance, or Finishline.
