yes I'm venting again! I've had nothing but problems with this stroker kit I bought off a board member.i get the shortblock assembled only to find out I have NO piston to valve clearance on the exhaust valve.well I have some but only .015,.020!! that's with the piston .020 out of the hole.running a special grind comp cam with .680 lift,323 adv duration..065 kometc head gasket.stage2 ta heads.i left it sit acouple weeks noing i'll have to get my racecar ready with my old motor, but got at it today.tried my slightly worn ta508 cam, degreed it in and still only have .050.pulled out piston to see if I could get the valve reliefs machined deeper.not a chance! so now what? this is a older kit from ta I found out.has 2 inch rod journals.7 1/8 inch rods,j e pistons.can anyone recommend a cam choice, solid lifters? or possible get new pistons made with deeper reliefs? woow..done now!
Its an automatic, steel rod and less than 7k id be fine with .050 me and alot of other guys have ran alot closer on LS engines . Could always put a little more gasket, id put some .080's on it with the 508 and maybe even some solids,
Dan, Could you change your roller rockers for a different ratio and pick up some clearance. Just spit balling here.
I should make it clear.i wasn't blaming the board member.just stating where I got the kit from.just frustrated on this build. I changed from 1.65 rockers to 1.6.thats how I got it up to .050.talked to Mike yesterday and looking at maybe different pistons.
