Question for you guys. My 74 Rivs both have the 60/40 front bench seat.I would like to change them to buckets w/console.Can i keep the driver's 40 and just change the passenger 60 with a bucket seat? This should give me a 40/40 with a center console correct? Thanks Tom

I've wondered that myself. It sort of looks like you could. You would still need two passenger buckets and two consoles though. Finding just one console for those is difficult. I'm planning to do the same swap to my 2dr LeSabre once I locate the parts.

Tom we'll have to get together when the weather breaks...:idea2: but it looks like the 40 seat back is different from the buckets....

I have recently seen a '75 LeSabre convertible with 40/40 seats. I don't know if it was a special order or if the interior was replaced with a Riviera interior but it was nicely done.

That does look nice. Appears to be Riviera buckets that have been redone with the LeSabre upholstery pattern. I'm doing something similar now to my 76 2dr LeSabre, only I'm having the Riviera upholstery pattern put onto the back seat for my LeSabre. I like the Riviera pattern better. Donor is 73 Riv.
Having issues with the seat belts though. The 73 bucket seat belts are not compatible with my 76 retracting shoulder belts. I would change the whole mess if I could, but the 73 shoulder belt folds up against the headliner instead of retracting. A minor issue, really. I mainly need the 1976 type GM bucket belts perhaps from a Firebird or Camaro. -just the pair that bolt to the driveshaft tunnel. Looks like they found something that works in that picture, or else the donor car was a 74. I transferred my headrests from the bench that have the seat belt guide mounts. They fit and look good. All I need are the two seat belt receptacles that come up along side of the console.

Yes, you can do that. The driver seat is a bucket seat. In fact, the passenger 60 seat uses the same seat tracks as the passenger bucket. I suspect the passenger 60 seat can be cut down to a bucket, with a little welding on the seat frame, though I have not tried it.

73riv,so i don't need any floor mountings? The bucket and 60 passenger bolt in the same?

The seats do. You will have to make a bracket for the console and drill a hole for the shift cable. The trans selector shaft uses a different bracket for the floor shifter cable and there is also a bracket which mounts to the trans to hold the shift cable housing. To do it up right you will need a floor shift steering column as well. Best way to do it is to find someone who is parting a car out, then get all the stuff in one shot.

It's a Riviera upholstery pattern, the rear seat matches the front one.

So it is a Riviera pattern and very close to what I am doing afterall. The 73 back seat is so different that I couldn't use it though. My 2dr seat is being recovered with the Riviera pattern right now.
