What differential is in a 1963 LeSabre? It is a drop out like a Ford. 9 3/8?
Where to get parts/service? Atlanta, GA area? PO took it out because it locked up. What might casue this? It has a POSI tag on the unit.

    Thanks,
    Chuck

63 buick lasabre. I believe is still a drop out like a Ford 9 3/8. If the rear was run dry of fluid the rear gears will lock up along with the bearings. If the diff fluid was dirty and cause excessive heat will lock up the rear. broken spider gears will lock the rear up. left over debis from earlier life breakage not cleaned out will cause locked up rear. So as you can see many thing can cause this problem. You will have to disassemble the rear and see what you find.

Satr by pulling the axles and see if the pinion spins. then it was the axle shaft( this usually will not happen because the car is so heavy it would literally snap the axle shaft and or side gear it is connected to.

Tear down is the only way. Jim
