I have pulled the rear seat out of my 64 and I think it is a hard top seat that somebody shorten to fit in a convertible. The seat is too short so I bought a seat out of a 66 convertible that has a small rusty corner and I was going to use the side frame from the old seat for this seat. I then noticed the curve in the frame in the 66 seat and not the seat that came out of the car. My 67 seat has the same curve in the frame. Does anybody know if the curve was in the 66/67 rear seats and not the 64/65 rear seats. I have attached a pic so you can see the seats.
You can see the rusty corner but I dont want to recover the seat and then figure out it will not fit. I would test fit but the car is at the body shop for paint. Thanks for any help
Ed, I've got a 66 convertible rear seat that I can check out for you. It's for a Chevelle, but all A-bodies should be the same. Can you give me a couple days to pull it down from the rafters and shoot pictures of it? o No: I should be able to have them posted here by the weekend. :TU:
Thanks Robert What I need is a 64/65 convertible seat to compare it too. I know the 66/67 convertible seats have the curved frame but I need verifiy the 64/65 convertible seat frame. Is it straight or does it have the curve. The seat that was in my car was a hard top seat that was narrowed to fit. Thanks
Hi Ed, I took a picture tonight of the 66 seat I bought for my 67 while I was out in the shop. I was going to post it, but I see by your last reply that it wouldn't help you any. (It does have the curve) But while I'm here...... How tough is it to recover them? I'll be starting that part of my project within a week or two. I guess I need to know how much beer I should stockpile before starting.
back or butt? top or bottom? if nobody replies by the morning i can pull mine & snap a pic for ya :TU:
Hi Jamie, If you could do that I would be very greatful for your efforts as it would really help me out. :beer The part is the butt section and it is the side frame that goes along the armrest on the floor. Rick, I figured it would be cheaper to pay the man than to buy the beer. They did the front seats and I would not recommend the OPGI seat cushions as they are about an inch to thick. I will be doing the door panels this weekend. I think that is pushing it. ou:
Ed, I checked the seat from my '65 convertible, and it does have the bend, just like the one in your pic, on the right. I took a picture, but then the cameras batteries immediatly died! ou: Time for a recharge...
Walt and Jamie I would like to thank you both for your help. You guys saved me a lot of time and now I can have my rear seat recovered and know it will fit. :TU: I think I just figured out why the seat was so hard to remove.
