I have 235 70's on mine with stock rims. They rub in the front a little but not in the back. Anything over about 225 in the front will rub at full turn.

I will have to look. Are you going wider or taller? Yacster sp has big tires on his IIRC. Maybe he'll chime in here. I'll see if I can look this weekend, the car is in storage.

OK. Are you using standard wheels or somethingelse? Do they have standard backspacing? Tom T. is another good one on this one. I'll look and let you know.

To chime in, I'm planning on doing the same thing and with custom backspacing wheels. However some comentary, the real limitation is going to be the exhaust, it runs between the spring and the tire and right now with what I think are the stock size tires on it my 2.5in TA exhaust has about 0.5in between both the spring and the sidewall. I'm planning to go to a custom oval over the axle pipe and adding a hanger of some kind to keep it from flexing side to side on my new exhaust system.

I think I've got the long block buttoned up today. I was having trouble with corroded out threads in the water passage, cam thrust clearance and getting enough clamping force on the gasket that's had me fighting the frontcover for about a month. I'm just short a small handful of mechanical parts and should be pulling the nailhead out in the early May time frame.

Back on subject, I was poking around under it today and noticed that my guilletine style pipe clamps are rubbing on the shocks at full compression. While the rear shocks do stand to be replaced its something to not about the pipe routing and how tight things are in the back of the car. 2.5in equivilent oval tubing is only 1.75in thick so that'll open up a good bit of tire clearance for you, even 3in stuff is only 2.25in thick which is what I'm going to need for the single pipe to the back of the car. Something else to consider too. On my 70 Riviera I could barely get the 15x7 wheel with fat tires on it (I can't remember the section width) between the brake drum and the fender with the axle at full droop. That would be an even bigger problem on running too wide a tire on the stock rim since the sidewall bulge would be worse.

I moved back in Aug. I got stationed at a recruiting squadron down here for about 4yrs so I'm enjoying the South while I can. Not a lot of research bases in the South for the Air Force.
