Hello, I am looking for a suplier of these parts for a freinds 65 Special with a 300ci. He is looking for new. We got a price of 25 pr rocker arm and we are hoping to do much better on the price. Thanks in advance!

Why is he stuck on new?Iam just curious.I rebuilt my 300 a while back and reused the originals which in my opinion are probably better than any new reproduced junk out there. If they are in good shape I would not hesitate to use em again..If they are in bad shape I have a couple nice used assemblies..........Bruce.

Bruce, I helped the guy last summer with replacing some of his rocker arms and push rods with used stuff and it ran great. I think there were 4 or 5 of both that I replaced at that time. After replacing them it ran quiet and smooth. I could see that the push rods were worn out along with the rocker arms at that time. Now at start up it is doing the same thing it did last summer. It starts up with ticking noises but then it almost goes away. Every once in a while after diving it for some time it will come back and then go away. He now wants all new but the price around here is going to be about 500-700 bucks for just the rocker arms and push rods. I was hoping that we could get them cheaper! If not, I am sure he would be interested in good used condition parts. BTW they want 25pr rocker arm and 11-12 for the push rods......Scott

Sounds like he better fix his oil issues before doing anything else.

TA Performance has reconditioned (good as new, maybe a little better) rockers. Around $249 plus we will need the old ones, new pushrods are $85 for the set.

Also sounds like you will need to address the oil pump, we have oil pump upgrade kits for $85. They include the gear set, booster plate, adjustable regulator and shim/gasket set.

Hello, I am wondering why you think his oil pump may be failing? I am a body man and not a great mechanic so I dont know much about 300ci oil pumps. I dont know much about big block oil pumps either. Anything I can learn from the board and relay to my freind will be of great value to him and I. Maybe we should wait on the upper end of this thing and do the oil pump upgrade first? I really aprieciate any and all help in this matter......Scott

2 things cause valve train ticking, lack of oil or inadequate pre-load on the lifters. There are multiple problems that can cause each. Assuming that you corrected the problem last year by changing some parts and they are worn again, that points to oiling issues. Ticking at first start up is usually a sign of a poor performing oil pump. Ticking due to pre-load issues (when it doesn't do it all the time) usually is quieter at first start up and worsens as the engine warms up.
