A close friend is reproducing the following. 1965/1966 front Park and indicator lights as well as 1965 skylark rear straight and the curved tail light pieces. The rears can be "had" in either red or the european color amber. I'm testing the waters on these parts so email me privately, or to this list, with your questions and commnents. As of yet, there is no price but will be shortly and I will post it to the list. Thanks in advance. Oh, and the quality is exceptional, attached is a pic.
Len, You know that word "GUIDE" is trademarked by GM and that the use of it without licensing exposes you to liability. You can't just reproduce these parts like this. That's why we obtained GM Licensing on the parts we are doing. And here's something you may not know. GM includes a clause in their licensing agreements that REQUIRES licensees to report violators. Failure to report could result in loss of GM licensing. So, what I'm saying here is BE CAREFUL!!!!!! Alan
You know that word "GUIDE" is trademarked by GM and that the use of it without licens Thanks Alan for the info. The lenses are not being reproduced in this country and as far as the licensing goes, I have no idea, I'm strictly a middle man but I will certainly ask. Thanks again. Len
ATTN:Alan Hi Alan,How are the 1970 and 1971 tail lamp lens coming?I am the fellow who loaned you the use of my 71 NOS Skylark tailight lens to use in reproing them.I thought the 1970 lens were due out back in May.What is the the due date on the 1970 lens and how are the 71 coming? I certainly do not want to lose my 71 lens so please keep me in the loop. Thanks Rusty or email buickfan1@yahoo.com
Re: ATTN:Alan Len, Actually, the fact that they are made in another country is even worse. It is a violation of US Customs Laws to import Unlicensed Trademark protected items. Results are disastrous. I heard that GM hit 18 vendors at the Hershey or Carlisle show this year. Roped off their spots and took ALL of their merchandise. Now they will likely face action by GM to recover damages for merchandise that they had already sold. Rusty, we've had a few delays, but the production run has begun. Lenses and gaskets for 70's will soon be available. 68 and 71's are next. Sidemarkers already underway. Not that anyone here will be interested, but we have just completed reproduction of all GTA and TTA emblems. Thanks, Alan
http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?threadid=7992&goto=newpost Dan, I've stored your name and info in my file. The lenses will be shipped shortly. When this is done, I'll provide pricing as I don't have a price yet. Len
Lenses Len, Aren't these lenses being made by David Azzopradi in Australia? I remember one of this board's members lives there and di some for the 65 cars. These are the same ones aren't they? Is that the "friend" you refer to? I remember discussing the lenses with him before and contacted that company about making the one's we are licensed for. Unfortunately, they did not have the capability to do such a long lens as the 68-72 lenses and could not afford the type of machine that would be required. Alan
Australian contact on Buick lenses Hi Alan, no that's not who I'm dealing with but certainly could be my contacts source. I have no idea. Intereasting, to say the least what a small world Buick enthusiasts inhabit. Len
I wrote a letter to GM that went ignored back when they first started nailing guys for repro stickers. Basically, I challenged GM to do as Mopar and Ford had done in supporting the reproduction of parts that keep their vehicles looking good after decades of neglect, when a loyal GM enthusiast restores one. They are rolling advertising. I can't tell you how many people think the mustang was a well built car because they see one driving down the road with repro trim and a new paint job. The restoration hobby is now worth at least a billion a year, and GM could be supplying the parts to people who really want to keep their GM car all GM. I was really disappointed at the lack of interest that GM has in us, and promised that I'd never buy another new GM vehicle for that and several other reasons. I've kept my promise, because GM ignored the three letters I wrote. I have since bought two Italian cars, a Dodge,Jeep Cherokee,an Audi 200 turbo and three more GS's. Maybe all of this ignoring they are doing will eventually bite them in the checkbook.
Lenses George, I fired off an email to my friend and am waiting on a reply. I'll post as soon as he replies with an update on the lenses. Len
