First year for the Skylark Gran Sport~1 owner, drove this off my local Buick Showroom floor back in 1965 after having ordered it! Still the original paint, original glass, factory 4 Spd.~Borg Warner close ratio transmission, 401/425 ci. Putting out 375 HP, Dual-Quad (set up professionally by the dealer with special order Hurst shifter). THIS CAR RUNS. (also has the factory single Carter AFB 4 bbl. & intake assembly included in sale). Factory Dual exhaust, black bucket seats, loop factory flooring (will need replacement~molded rugs are available), with factory shifter Consolette, All badges intact. NEVER SEEN AN ACCIDENT. This beauty has 130,000 miles on the odometer and runs just like a Buick~ FOREVER. Raced twice at the Atco Dragway, Burlington County, New Jersey & still displays the “Winner” Decal, never “wiped”! Comes with ALL the original Factory Manuals (specific to the limited production Skylark Gran Sport) AND the Factory Protecto-Plate! You will not find another ORIGINAL Buick Skylark Gran Sport~ONE OWNER!!! Being a "collector" & having experienced the limited supply of parts which will only fit the 1965 model, I am including my collection of spare parts (windows, doors, fenders, bumpers, front grilles (very rare), front hood, rear trunk lid, tail lights (try finding these), interior parts, badges, bucket seats, rear seat, arm rests & many other parts which you would play hell trying to find~just in the event some IDIOT might "rear end" you or other atrocity. You could leave the current interior in place as you would then have the "spare" seats, door panels, etc. recovered. WHAT A DEAL!!! *I am not done with this write-up but wanted to put it out there for further action!
Saw this a week ago, the ad that is, says manual transmission but has a st300 kick down, makes me wonder Regards, Jim
Good eye. Something is not adding up. Also, I didn't know Buick had a 375 hp engine? I thought the 425 dual quad was the 465 Wildcat. If it's a real dealer installed dual quad, how do you prove it?
Hi again, Rumors have always said the dealer would install the dual quads from a 425/Super Wildcat on the 400 (actually 401) even heard some claiming it was shipped in the trunk. Unless someone has dealer paperwork saying it was installed new then most likely transplanted at some point in its life. Regards, Jim
That makes sense. Guess it's possible someone installed the dual quad from a automatic car. Thanks Jim.
Just got off the phone with the owner. The car is legit. the owner is very edgy and kind of onrae. but I feel it is a real car. He took pictures from another car for refence purposes. Would love to have it but not in the cards right now.
I'm just saying instead of speculating call him up. He said he would send more pictures if you want them. I have to warn anybody that is interested I think you could easily offend this gentleman. Like any long distant purchase always do your home work! I personally would love to have it and i think it would be one of kind original that is hard to find. I've been fooled before but I think its legit.
From me just reading the ad it sounds like BS. Someone that tells me the speculation on how "rare" something is rather than about the condition of the car is a blow hard. I'd be more worried about it being a rusty New Jersey car not the race track sticker on the window. Weird what people focus on. Then talks about how hard the parts are to find and so on.. I'd have to ask him what year he was born first to see if he was even old enough to drive that car off the lot in 1965. There was a reason why things were rare .....nobody wanted them. But now everyone thinks rare equals valuable now. I'm not sure why anyone would call the guy unless they had cash on hand and ready to make the drive. Sounds like the guy may be hard to deal with and. Is peddling junk or a dream. Anybody selling a decent car would post good pictures of the exact car. Also be happy to take more and take calls about it. It's like when you seen a picture of a nice car...then at the end of the ad it says " the picture is what it could look like". Anyway I could go on and on.
yep this car is roughly 175 miles N of my location. Craigslist - as it appears for all purposes is close to dead. Last five to ten ads I've placed in last few years were worthless. Yes would be concerned about how long the car was in NJ, and what the undercarriage is truly like.
