That's right in line according to the newest Black Book CPI Guide. 1965 Skylarks or GSs haven't rebounded yet.
Old Cars Price Guide has it at 15,500 and then add 25% for the Gran Sport option. I believe it is what it says, just a guide. Tom
The whitewalls and hubcaps are probably correct but man a set of rally wheels and redlines would have helped elevate the final bids. IMHO
I believe it went over 14 k on ebay but it's a dealers car so most likely wants over 20 k . I was at swap meet today then went and checked this 65 GS out . Super clean but he wants to make a bunch on consignment http://www.almeidasclassiccars.com/search.php?id=48e1f24f325a91d20a2c5df38a4f6607
I remember seeing the white car on eBay too. Never sold. Blue car looks very nice. Fully restored? ....that ain't cheap to do! Wonder how much the owner has into it? Would be hard to do a nice restoration for $25k. But you seem to keep finding mint originals out there in Ca.
The white car came from Pa. and if any of you remember that was Steve Shumans car . I went to Pa. to see that car about 5 or 6 years ago and in truth at that time I passed on it for various reasons but as I recall it had a fair amount of filler , and the interior smelled bad . It had been stored inside after Steve's passing with other Buick's but the best 2 that were there was a 87 GNX and a 65 GS Vert ( red ) . The blue cars looks very nice but I know of nothing on that one , but may be interesting at a real price which for that car I would think based on todays market may be worth 18K or so but who knows without really seeing it .
I saw the white car at Hershey in the field 2 years ago... I dont remember the interior smelling i atually remember the interior being really clean... I agree...car needs rally wheels and whitewalls... or red lines... I dont think redlines were avail in 65 on the GS... not 100% on that.. that blue car its minty...and Walt is right...cant do that car for 25G'sthe odometer looked like it had 90 miles on it must be a frame off resto on a rusty free CALI car...love those....there still layin around out there...
From what I was told by someone at the auction the car was not that nice. I was not given any further details, but it could be as George said that it had a fair amount of filler.
I saw it and thought it had filler as well.....I figured 15k....that whole auction started out reasonable and then got crazy out of hand by the weekend ....they had Chevelles selling waaay over priced and a ton of Pontiacs selling at higher than normal prices too. So so cars that normally would pull 14-17k selling for 22-24k etc..........if I didnt know any better I would have sworn that auction was fixed with plants in the audience .....j
