65 is finished Here's my 65 skylark gran sport factory lightweight car. I allways like the looks of the ford thunder bolts and the mopar ramchagers in the mid 60's so here's my take on the way buick should have built a few gran sports.
Liteweight Man oh man, I think that is just awesome. I have always liked the steel wheel-hubcap sleeper look. Great job :TU:
gran snort My kind of car. Spend the money on go, and a nice stock appearing body. This is the true spirit of the original muscle cars. On this car the ' Gran Sport' really means something. Nice, really nice. :Brow: :Brow: :Brow:
great job! great idea, ive allways wanted a 65 4sp 2x4.maybe after i finish the 69.boy the paint & wheels really stand out.do cops follow you round when you drive?do little kids throw candy to YOU?do dogs pee on the car NEXT to yours?how does it go?had it down a track yet :3gears: probably get a rear set of tires for x-mas every year. :Brow:
Now all you need to do is take out the in-board headlights and run a flex tub from the resulting hole on each side and connect it to the respective snorkles on the air cleaner! Then it will truly be the Buick version of the thunderbolt!
Thanks all for your kind words, Brian I've would really like to put the hoses to the in board headlights if the battery was in the trunk but i think for now i'll leave the way it is, but that would be sweeeeet. one more shot of the car with out the caps. :3gears:
Harle, The car looks PERFECT!! The '65's have such an 'all business' look that you captured perfectly. And speaking of the 'Thunderbolt' influence, I once had a '66 GS that a previous owner had a teardrop hood scoop on. Wish I had some pics...but that hood, (less scoop) has been in my sisters attic since about 1978! That would look cool on my '66 Special. As for the 'Ram Air' from the headlight openings, I used the outers on my '66....it'll work, even with the battery in place. here's a pic:
I,ve been deaming of that car since 1970. Outstanding job . How about a set of pie crust cheater slicks on the rear.
Dennis: When i had my rims powder coated i had a extra pair done to mount on some ole cheater slicks, you guys are right on the same page i'am on with this car. :3gears:
