I have a 65 Lesabre and I need to find out where I can purchase the following parts. I think the motor is a 401 or 425 Big Block.

    1. Gas Tank sending unit
I think I need this part because the gas gage is not working. It registers as full all the time

    2. Gas Tank Vent Assembly Unit
I think I need this part becuase the gas tank is leaking sometimes.

    3. Speedometer Cable
I think I need this oart because the speedometer & odometer is not working.

    4. Air Filter
There was no air filter installed in the car when I bought it. I don't know what type it takes.

LeSabre standard engine was a 300. If your distributor is in the front its not a 401 or 425. They would not fit well in your engine compartment- Wildcats and Electras are 3" longer in that area-for the engine...
You may want to check the ground on the sending unit. Check connections, one may be weak. If not, I have a sending unit boxed and ready to ship.

On the speedo cable-Our cars are pretty cool in that the speedo or clock unit is very easy to take out. There are two screws that hold it in. Both point skyward. One through the top of the chrome speedo ring and one through the bottom of the dash. You can remove those two screws and pull the chrome ring and the unit will come out. What happens is when that unit goes back in, if you are not careful and don't seat that cable back in, you can "push" the speedo cable out of the back of the dash. It's not hard to push back in from the back side. I would make sure it is seated right.

I would take the unit out and drive the car with it out to see if the cable in the dash spins. If it does, either it was not seated right or or the speedo is broken. If it doesn't spin then is most likely is broken or not seated in the tranny. What you might do....and this is up to you, is pull the guts (the inner cable) out of the cable casing from the dash side. Just reach in there and pull it out. It will slide out and leave the hollow casing. It should have a square peg on both ends like in the picture. The white plastic end is the one that attaches to the back of the dash. I think I have another cable attached to my spare transmission if yours is broken. Let me know if yours turn up broken.

    Hope this helps Rick

Here it is with it partially pulled out. You might make a decision about cleaning the cable. My new one has a grease on it. I think most people use a graphite nowadays. As you can see the white plastic (dash side) has a non-threaded piece that slides on the back of the dash. That's what can get pushed off the back side of the dash and not allow the square peg to seat in the speedo unit.
