http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6142&item=2439856971 interesting quote from the seller "The front grill has been verified with Texas Department of Public Safety Motor Vehicle Theft Investigatiors as original."
the ROA email list has had a field day with this guy and he is on the list. He really believes it is correct and not changed. We have pointed out all of the 65 stuff to him, body, bumpers, interior, but he says it is original. He thinks if the engine is original it was never crashed and repaired. He also think it has the rare Wildcat 445 engine. And yet there are bids.ou: ou: I can't wait for the emails from the new owner looking for help documenting his new rare prize. I would like a 58 Vette but I know I don't know enough to be as critical as I would need to be in purchasing one without being taken. Larry 64 Riv, a real one
Even if it was original, most guys that are after a 65 are wanting that front end (I would fit in that catagory). It's gonna kill his final price regardless.
It looks like it sold. I found this on the ROA email list today... <i> "I just bought a 1965 Riviera, VIN # 494475H918732. The body tag has the following: 01D ST 65-49447 FB 101942 BODY TR 604 NN PAINT E-2K-4F-5KW I can interpret these, but here's the rub. This is definitely a '65 Riv, but she has the front parts of a '64 Riv - grill, headlights, and turnsignal assemblies. There is no wiring that would indicate that it ever had the '65 hidden headlights. These parts appear to have been factory installed. My question is - has anyone ever heard of the Flint factory installing '64 fronts on '65 Rivieras?"</i> He's gonna :ball: when he finds out he got fooled.:spank: I hope he got it for a good price.
64 or 65 Hey guys, you just never can tell with what may have been done to that particular vehicle.....One would think, lots of trouble to go thru just to fool someone....I think it would be just as easy to find a 65 front grill assy for it, but the hidden headlight motors may be challenging, but you never know, He may have A true Gem with special order there. Never can tell, somebody may have been wanting to experiment at the assy line....I could see it now, the boys on the line, swapping stuff around to see how it would look....I wish they would have dropped a 2x4 package on my 2 65 GS's just for giggles you know! LOL:laugh: I wish, RIGHT? Later gearheads!
Yeah, and I wish they had dropped a Muncie 4 speed in my '69 with a 4.10 posi. In all fairness to that car it looked to be a beauty. I want a '65 for my next Riv.
This is a Jan 65 build car, not some 07D. My 64 is one of the last 64's built, 07D and there is no 65 model content. How several someones would have been able to put a front clip that was 6 months out of production on the car on the line is beyond me. The harnessess are different as well as ????? how many other parts. I still vote for wrecked with this is all I could find for parts, or someonme really didn't like not being able to keep his headlights working. Larry
