    I NEED ADVICE!!!!!!!!!
Hello, I've never had a Buick or a convertible so I am hoping for some advice. I found a 65 Skylark vert, 310 wildcat, runs ok, slight lifter noise. 2 speed tranny, shifts smooth. Body is fair to good, not too much rust, just a bad bondo/paint job. Frame looks good. Interior is a little rough, but I can handle that. Top is good, clean and operates smoothly. Drivers floor pan needs to be patched/replaced. Bumpers are fried, I don't think rotten, but lots of ugly surface rust. Other crome is fair. I just want a presentable runner, for me and the family, and can't afford to get into a tub of crapola. Is this car a nightmare to source parts, does the 300 motor have potential and are parts readily available. Is there anything I should look out for or stay away from? I need advice fast. The car is only going to be held for two or three days before the guy advertises it. Basically, anything you guys can offer in the ways of advice would be greatly appreciated.

    $3600
Thanks for your time, in advance

I have a 64 that someone put a 65 interior in,nd 67 firebird buckets, 350 chevy, and Chevy rear in it. The paint was good but the interior was black velour inserts that faded gold. I am putting a 455 into it but some have put 350 Buicks in them. The body panels will have to come from donor cars and the floor pans and truck pans you can get from goodmark industries. I dont know much about the parts for the 300. I paid 3500 for my car. It the one in my avatar pic.

Welcome. Gotta go out so here's the short version. Since you have found this site someone here can help you with any problem you might have. There are several 64/65 owners here.
Parts can be found but usually ordered not stocked. The 300 is peppy but depends on what your compairing it to. Several vendors carry many parts for our 64/65's but forget about body panels.
If your happy with it and the price is right go for it.
Best part is when you take it somewhere you usually don't see anything else like it.

Thanks for the help. If anyone else has some insight, please let me know. I would really like to get this car, but I want more knowledge first.

    Thanks again, Uncle

I say offer him 2,800 and see if he bites. They're great cars! Do a search on this site for more info on them. I love mine! INterior parts will be a little expensive, but floor pans are readily available I believe. Try Year One...maybe even Poston's. Good luck!

    You Won't Regret It!!

I own a 1964 Skylark and I have to tell you, it the body is right, the rest is a piece of cake. The parts for the engine and such are a little more than many other cars, but right out of the box, BUICKS ARE SWEEEEEETTTT!! They sound good, run good, and just plain turn heads as well as any other GM vehicle. The places to look on the body are behind the wheels and the wheel well edge, in front of the door on the bottom of the fender, and the window area of the cowl and the package tray. These are the places to look. My original 300 (Long Gone) got me through high school and many years of marriage before I blew it up. My 401 and SP 400 tranny are the hot ticket and make it move. Easier would be a 400-455 or a 350 if you are looking for a cruiser. you can mate up a 700R4 or a 2004r to them and you will have overdrive. Taking mine to 3 days of Route 66 celebration this weekend and I know it will get attention and it will be fun to drive.
