Trying to get parts for a 65 Skylark Gran Sport. What other GM cars are similar for most parts? I figure the GTO and Chevelle (which would also add the El Camino). Is this correct? Also, what year Skylark are mostly interchangable? I am a newbie to Buicks, just trying to finish my dad's final project. Thanks Jim 03 Expedition 94 Lightning 65 Skylark GS project
What kind of parts? Relatvely speaking very little will interchange with another GM line. I do not think any repro sheet metal is even made for that year. That is what makes Buicks unique ( expensive to redo).
Your car is a member of the 1964-1972 GM A-body series. As such, the chassis is shared with the Chevelle, Tempest/GTO, and Cutlass/442. So, suspension parts are common. For some years, some of the windshields and window trim will interchange. Headlights, bulbs, batteries are also common.
Looking for items like steering column, gas tank and since it has a Chevy 350 in it, headers. I was wondering what steering columns would work. Will a Riviera column work in the Skylark? As for the tank and headers, will Chevelle ones fit into the GS? Thanks Jim 03 Expedition 94 Lightning 65 Buick Skylark GS
GM-37J on the gas tank for the Buick and a Chevelle that year was a 37B. A skylark column will fit but rivs were so different I doubt it.
I'm in San Antonio, TX, what do you want for it? Shipping should run from $35 to $50 from what I've seen so far. email me at jump6pack@sbcglobal.net Jim
There is a '65 Special 4 door here in a wreaking yard. The body looks good, but the interior has been pretty much stripped. Still has glass and some other misc. stuff. The drivers side quarter panel looks great except for a 2mm hole wayyyy at the bottom behind wheel well. The Pass. side quarter is straight except for the very bottom, and that part is dented. Let me know what parts you need and I'll see if they are still there. Cheers,
skylark hi, a guy ask me about where i get those parts from for different car. he wants me to take him to the junk yard around here to get some parts from a 65 skylark. i haven't told him anything just yet. i want to make sure that you don't need anything from the car. he's a vulture when it comes to car parts. he suppose to call today but i ain't going there,to cold anyway. He works with my brother and thinks i will look out for him. i only look out for board members only. they are like family to me. let me know if you think you may need something in the future.....mike
