Can anyone give me a quick lesson in trim removal on my 65 Skylark? Side moldings front to back. Roof trim (toupee molding) do you have to remove the headliner to get this off? Rocker panel moldings?Photos? Thanks Dan

Does your Skylark have a cross flow rad or a down flow? No, I am not joking.

The doors have a nut at the front and back, and then the trim pops off (gently). You may be able to get the toupee molding off by just removing the windlace and front window side trim...I haven't tried mine yet, but according to the body manual there's a nut up front and the rest is clipped on. There'll be a nut in both front corners. I'd suggest getting a body manual for it...but I imagine the quarter and fender trim will be similar to the doors. I know there's a nut on each side in the trunk. Good luck!

I think I get you Brian...crossflows are GS models, which have different trim.

OK: Is this like the bonus round question? If I get it right will you school me on the trim removal ? Cross flow. Good thing I had the old one in the garage. Original order form and title say Skylark Sport Cpe. Has alot of trim, . No wheel well moldings. Thank GOD.

Oh yeah, rockers have screws underneath, and the tops are clicked in to these coin shaped clips. Once the screws are out, just gently tap the bottom to pop out the rocker moldings...

Aaron, nope, but close. The Skylarks went thru a midyear change. With crossflows came stud mounted clips for the side mouldings. Before that they had an oval hole in the body with a plastic clip popped into it. This actually doesn't even matter with the simple removal, I was thinking too much. :)

Dan, you can pretty much forget removing the front fender "port hole" chrome without removing the fenders they are all but impossible.

The "toupee" mould is held on with plastic clips that are held on to the roof with little studs just like the side moulding. It does have studs sticking down from the moulding with nuts below the rear window and onto the quarter. You get them from inside the trunk. I seem to remember a screw that is visible right over the "A" piller holding on the corner of the front piece after you remove the side roof pieces. You do NOT have to drop the head liner. The quarter mouldings will have a couple of studs at the rear right at the tail lamps. Aaron covered the rocker trim nicely.

Hey Guys: Thanks for the info. Dropped the car off today for body work and paint. My guy doesn't want to damage anything during removal. At least he asked before he started pulling stuff off. Thanks Dan
