Sorry if this is the wrong place for this but I wasn't sure where to post it.

My question is are the core supports for a '66 GS and a Skylark different? I bought a core support from a '66 GS in a bone yard about 3 years ago and it has been in storage until today. When I brought it home I discovered that it was different from the one on my Skylark. I know the donor car was a '66 because I also got the hood and some trim but there was no grille in it.

My support has the removable pieces that the headlight buckets attach to but on the new one they attach directly to the support.

So what gives? I gotta say this is a real drag. Just as I'm about to put the front clip together now I need a core support (and I know how easy they are to find!)

Anyhow, if someone could straighten this mystery out for me so I know what I have then maybe I can sell this one to pay for the new one.

    Thanks:(

It sounds to me like the core support you bought isn't a 66....I would fell sure that the 66 Skylark core support would be the same no matter what series car it came from rather it was a GS or a Special.....I wonder if the support you have is a 67...I'm not sure how the head lamp buckets go in it, I too have the housings my buckets go in and then they bolt to the core support.

    Thanks James,

The more I think about it, I got a core support and an inner fender from two different cars. One was a '66 GS I'm sure of and the other was a Special. The GS I'm sure was a '66 because I also got the hood and The special had no grille or bumper so maybe I made a mistake and got the core support from what was actually a '67 Special.

Either way, I'm screwed. Anybody know were I can get a decent core support for a '66 Skylark?

You shouldn't have any problem selling the core support, someone on here should have one for a 66.....hit the "parts needed" section.
