The wheel openings are the same.
    The moldings have different shapes.
The moldings on a 66 meet the side moldings which run from the front to the back.
The Skylarks in 67 also had moldings running back the sides in a similar area as a 66, BUT all, ALL, every Skylark had skirts and no, none had wheel opening moldings. NONE.
In 67 the GS cars had rear wheel opening moldings, also the Special could have them, some did, some didn't. I don't know why, these cars had NO moldings running back the side down low, so the wheel opening moldings go all the way down to the bottom of the opening on front and rear areas of the opening.
Will 67 fit a 66, yes, but they are shaped different and to make it match you would need to change front and rear.
Will 66 fit a 67, yes, but they will not mate up to the 67 side trim like the 66 does. Because all 67 Skylarks had skirts and Special/GS had no trim to match it to.
    Are you totally confused yet?
67 rear moldings are usually hard to come by and generally not cheap.
If you want to know how each look search for some pictures and look at them, you will see the difference.
Also these are made of stainless steel. You could easily cut them to shorten them. But to do any other modifications, like reshape them would be IMHO, impossible. All you would do is ruin a molding trying.

    Good Luck,
    Mike

Thanks, Mike. If I were to put a set of 66 moldings (I have a line on a brand new NOS set) on my 67 convertible, where would they meet up to the body, exactly? Would they be above my existing side trim, or below (in which case I could cut them). I don't mind cutting them, but if they match up to the body above the existing trim, it would be a no go for me. I looked at some online pictures, but it's hard to tell. I really appreciate all of your help.

Now we get into something I don't know first hand 'cause I've never tried it. So I will tell you what I have heard. First thing to do if you want wheel moldings on the rear of 67 Skylark is remove the brackets for the skirts on top of wheel well. Please remember I have owned a few 67 GS and Specials and wagons, never owned a Skylark. I'm repeating what I have read. The moldings set down in the channel around the wheel well with the lip where the screws go inside the wheel well, just exactly the same as the existing front moldings on your car. So there will be a small area where the side trim stops and does not connect to the wheel molding. I have no idea how 66 fit but I ASSUME they would end in the area of or close to your side trim. I know the 66 moldings have a pair of points sticking out, like snake fangs, sticking straight with the molding that would go behind the 66 side moldings so the 2 join and fit snugly together, you would probably need to cut them off.
I really hope someone with experience on the whole process would jump in here and fill you in on what to expect.

    Good luck,
    Mike

Thanks again, Mike. I'm going to go for it. If they don't work, I can sell them for double of what I'm paying. I was quite surprised to get a brand new set for the price we agreed on. Will keep everyone posted. Cheers,

    Allan
