Would love to see it on TV

It would be neat to see the auction on this car on TV. The comments are always interesting not to mention the price it will go for. Any idea when it would be shown... ?

"This rare car is one of only seven 401 Nail Head Gran Sports to be built by Buick in 1966. "

    Who built all the others???

    Good one John!

Lest we forget.....Buick was only allowed to install 400's in the '66 A-body...
    401's were 'illegal' :Dou:

T the top, the engine is listed as a 406. This is one of the ultra rare Ford 406 cars with dual quads and M-21 instead of "really" factory correct Borg Warner T-10. :Smarty:

It is nice to see B-J choose a '66 GS for the auction. They turn away many cars. Maybe they need the variety. Too, given no reserve, it might be had for a reasonable price, unless a hotrodder wants the drivetrain for his next project. Dan

Mike Joy says dual quads were not available for the a-bodies. Is that right? Were they only on the Wildcat and Riv?:Do No:

    It sold for $84, 700!!!!!

Dual quads weren't a regular option for the Skylark GS. But if you had walked into a dealership in 1966, and said you wanted a '66 GS with dual quads, I'm sure the dealer would add them for you. So, you might say it was a 'dealer option'....but it still left the factory as a single 4bbl car.

The B-J crowd doesn't doesn't seem to know diddly about GS's, but are willing to spend big bucks to get them. I'm OK with that; we need to put every one of their a$$es in a Buick seat. According to another thread, a QQ GSX was mislisted as a Skylark, and went for 70K anyway. The announcers didn't have their "car spotter" point out the QQ code for all to see. The crowd, and most car guys know the Mopars, Vettes and Shelby's already, but didn't catch the easiest way to sniff out a real X car:puzzled: Dan

I was wondering if a nailhead powered gs would ever show up at BJ. I hate to see prices go so high, but I was hoping itwas going to get 30 or so. I was shocked. But we are talking about BJ. Every camaro, chevell ect. goes for 40 or more it seems. It makes you wonder have the buicks cought up with the rest of the freenzy. I read that there were 431 of this model made. I wonder if there are 150 of them still out there?

This spring I will be selling a Very nice 67 GS vert. Matching #engine, trans ,rearend. It is apple red with red interior, bucket seat, power windows, tilt wheel, column shift, turbo 400 car. The body is in super condition. It has never seen rust anywhere!! It is the best body I have ever seen and am sad to let it go. It will be in #1 condition when offered for sale.

Question? What is the best way to sell this car. Do I take it to a big auction? Ebay, or advertise it in national publications.

I am selling this to pay for a second GS Vert I am starting this summer. Like anybody I would like to get the most i can for this car. I would be to bad to work so hard and sell it for 35K and then see it go for 77k in a BJ auction a year later.

Any advise out there?? :Do No:

    Thanks
    Scott
