As I recall, GS was only an option on the 66's. The emlems in the pix posted are correct I think. Haven't seen a 66 in a long time but as soon as I saw your pix I thought ''thats correct". Just my $.02

Yes its correct, the `66`s used the "skylark" and the block style GS letters,in `67 they switched it to the regular GS emblem.

    Thanks

Yeh, that's the way they are. Are you gonna buy it? Man, it looks great and a 4 spd! C'mon man do it! Become one of us. It only hurts for a little while and then it feels good.

real nice car. has the later year engine color, which should be the q-jet. couldn't quite see if the shifter was correct as i recall mine was a round handle.

I have factory adds, showing the engine red, with the carter, or the the q-jet.

Looks dead like my car when I picked it up, less the GS option, 401 and stick. :ball:

my 66 4 spd was red with white painted top and black interior. the motor was green and had a carter. i still think the red engines and q-jet were toward the end of the selling year. but with gm who knows.
the demise of my 66 was an oil tanker truck pulled out in front of me.

John, all my '66 GS's have red engines, as have all the ones I've seen. I have heard of a few EARLY '66 cars with green engines....would that apply to your car?
How long did you have that car before it's demise? Guess it sacrificed itself for you....Glad you're still with us!

    walt,
dont have the vin, but if i recall i was the second owner. had the car for about 2 yrs till its demise.
you say all you have seen is red, but the big cars are the green....another anomaly from gm

In 66, if it was a GS (Skylark, Riv, or Wildcat) the motor was red
    Otherwise green.

it was a 66 gs 400 and it was green engine and a carter carb. still have the stick flywheel from it. been doing buicks for over 35 yrs(ouch) and gm keeps finding ways for us to scratch our heads.
