I will be switching over to a Q-Jet on my 66 Skylark GS. It doesn't have to be an original Skylark Air Cleaner, as long as it is the correct part. I can get the correct label for the lid if need be. I believe the same air cleaner was used on other models, but I am not positive of that. I would prefer a painted one over chrome. Driver quality is fine or even one that needs to be restored.

    Thanks in advance.

Hey Johnny.. I just stumbled across this one in my inventory while looking for another air cleaner.... It IS definitely a 66 QJ air cleaner...I had several of these over the years and this one is the last one I have. I KNOW it is CHROME and it IS restorable without rust or holes, and you prefer painted, however, I believe a good professional glass bead stripper should be able to strip the chrome down to original steel and then you can paint it black.

PM if you are interested or you cant come up with a black QJ air cleaner! :Brow:

Dennis, the base is a correct Q-jet air cleaner, but the lid is for the 2x4 air cleaner. The 2x4 lid is little bigger than the 1x4 and won't fit the element properly. The Q-jet a.c. uses the same lid as the AFB a.c. so that should be easy to find.

THANK YOU Walt! My bad. I just grabbed the air cleaner base and the closest lid for the pix. :Dou:

SO Johnny, the LID in the pix is no longer offered as part of this deal!! K? :TU:

Thanks Wheelz and Thanks Walt for clearing up the lid issue. I just now saw the posts, I would have probably caught the same. Don is teaching me well on identifying parts, lol.

Wheelz, Ill shoot you a PM to discuss price on the lower part of the air cleaner.

Johnny... sure looks like you need this air cleaner more than I do. Take a look at post #4, PM me a firm, reasonable offer and we'll go from there, K? :TU:

    Hey Wheelz.

Appreciate the offer, but I am really looking for a painted version. That is the look I am going for on the car and the chrome accessories bring a premium, which I would prefer to avoid since I will be blasting it down and painting it anyway. I am told ones that need to be recoated are typically worth in the neighborhood of about $60. And I would assume a painted version would be about the same if it were complete.

If you are game for an offer in this ballpark then let me know, otherwise I would prefer to decline to offer as I do not want to cause any insult and bad feelings about what may be considered a lowball offer. I am just going off of the consensus I have gathered from others.

    Thanks again for the offer.

I didn't say that was how much I would end up paying for one, I just said that is what I was told they were approximately worth. :TU:

    TTT. I'm still looking!

Why yes, yes I did. Arrived about an hour ago. And dropped it on one of the QJets I have sitting my table. Fits the carb and the snorkle even points in the correct direction, to the passenger side. Quite a bit of surface rust across the bottom but still very solid. Good candidate for being blasted and painted black.

Hahaha. Yeah people are real proud of their chrome accessories. This one isn't perfect by anymeans. Surface rust on the bottom side and the chrome is bubbling and flaking off. Also the snorkel is crushed where someone supposedly stepped on it. But I have a lead on a good snorkel that I will swap into it. Also the lid is toast but that doesn't bother me cause I will just use my other lid or pick up another later. Just glad I found one with the correct base that didnt have to pay an arm and a leg for. I have many other parts I need to use the money on.
