What is the correct way to take out the speaker from the back of a 66 Riviera GS?

This is hard to explain. You have to take out the seat. Bottom first.

The bottom half is anchored on 2 sides about 10" from each side in the front. Push down a little while sliding back. Once it starts moving back, pull up a little and it will come out.

The top holds in with 2 bolts. Remove them and pull forward from the bottom, then push down.....it will come out. It is hooked in 3 places on the top. Be careful not to pull too hard on these, you don't want to break the metal frames.

Let me know what treasures you find under there!

Awesome! Thats what I was hoping to hear. I have a pair of 1800watt 6x9's I was hoping to use....

1 of them will fit in the back seat anyway.:)

You think it would be possible to get a 6x9 down in there? I might just leave them alone and get some 6x9 boxes and put them on the floor behind the seats....

No, it would never fit. Better put them behind the rear seat. I put 2 6x9's on a plywood board behind mine and they just fit.:bglasses:

I bought a pair of speakers for a surround sound home system and mounted them on the shelf. Found some spray paint that is nearly a dead on match for the interior and secured them with one 3/16" bolt. Teeny hole.

They don't thump, but combined with a little Led Zeppelin they will vibrate the rearview mirror. [IMG] [IMG]

From directly behind the car, they look like a pair of head rests. :bglasses:
(Glare of garage lights prevents a straight on shot from the rear.)
